Also, Calibre can detect the reader when it's plugged in via USB, you don't need to insert the card into the reader manually. Just plug the USB cable into the reader and the other end into the computer, select OK on the reader, then start Calibre. You can then save to either the internal memory or the SD card.
This is how I do it and it's much easier than moving the SD card around.

The PEz and Intel 82801series (Win XP) USB2 drivers do not play nice together

Not being equipped with USB2 protocol analyzers, I can not say which end is at fault (or if there is any SINGLE fault. Both ends may just be at opposite ends of a tolerance.)
Since these USB chips are found in a Majority of major brands, I find it odd that there are not more complaints (there are others, here and over at Calibre), since 3 out of 3 brands of my computers have this problem.
RobertB at Astak also recommends using a "card reader" as being faster.
