Per Wikipedia, "Space Battleship Yamato" (the original name for the series "Star Blazers") did the entire trip that I mentioned in 26 episodes. The series wasn't boring because they didn't focus on minute details of the trip. Often space warps were mentioned in passing, since it became fairly routine after the first few. If I remember correctly, the last half of the trip took place in about five episodes.

It's much like "Star Trek - The Original Series." True, there is a great deal of action and events happening, but that's the only time we are watching them. I suspect a vast majority of Kirk's log entries would could be summed up like this: "Nothing significant to report."
