- yes, it's running. I discovered I had installed the new version beside the old one, so I un-installed all, and re-installed the new one. Still not working, I'm afraid.

It's possible your ipod touch is connected to someone else's open wi-fi network. If your ipod Touch can access internet services but it can't see your own pc it could be this.
Once you know your ipod's ip address from your pc run a cmd prompt and ping your ipod's address. eg. ping 192.168.1.102 and see if your PC can see it.

It's on my network, the address is 192.168.1.101 (my PC is 192.168.1.100). When I ping it I get the response 'Destination host unreachable'. I guess that means that the problem lies in the communication between my PC and the Touch?
