It might make a neat addon/plugin for Calibre, they have a forum here. I think they
would welcome additional help with it's development.
For me, learning more about how the ebooks are constructed and what I can do to
work with them, is something I wouldn't want to automate away. There is enough
difference in the ebooks, even with those made to the same format, that some
individual adjustments to the processing is likely to be worthwhile. Also the basic
process is easy to master.
