So the white of the page is the same and it's only the fronts are different? If not, someone needs to break out the microscope to check if the new firmware is wiping the e-ink as effectively as before. I suppose comparing the viewing of an image or an image of text can tell if it's an e-ink issue or a text rendering issue.
