Harry, when I was in college, we use to use coffee filters or a paper towel put in a strainer. Then we would put in 2 tablespoons of coffee and pour boiling water in the strainer while it was over a cup. After a while, we figured out how much coffee to use for each size of cup. It was just a cheap way to make coffee on a student's budget.
