Speaking as an author who is trying very hard to work with the readers to be fair and who has been rather arbitrary ripped a new one (well, they've tried, but it hasn't worked
) by some of the members here, I'd say that goes both ways.
On the plus side, as always the immensely helpful and interesting folks far outnumber the ... less so.
But I appreciate the sentiment and absolutely agree with you.
