Oh - have I mentioned my other recent book? It's a biography of Alfredo Catalani, a 19th Century Italian Composer, who suffered from tuberculosis (& very bad luck) all his life, and died at 39. Slightly older than Puccinni (& from the same town), and admired by Toscannini, the book is mainly a translation of an Italian biography, along with translations of a couple of other anecdotal accounts of his life.
It's really quite interesting, although mainly, I grant, if you're an opera buff.
