I agree... for him, and a lot of people, an iPad like device can replace a laptop/netbook.
I'm typing this on my iPad. It's a different experience than with real keys - you have to keep your fingers elevated. So it's rather difficult while sitting in my easy chair as compared to my laptop but I can feel myself getting better at it even as I type. Just learned that I can make the type bigger which helps a lot and the spell correction is very good.

I can easily see this replacing my laptop since I have a desktop for any heavy duty work I née to do. Coincidentally my son called me this afternoon to tell me that his hard drive is dying, and I have decided to let him take my laptop back to finish out the school year.

The scrolling in this comment box doesn't work right though. So I dont think that typing will be a efficient as on the laptop. But since I'm not a great typist to start off with the difference might not make much difference.

I do have a little Bluetooth keyboard which will work with the iPad but I need some sort of laptop desk to use it I think.
