OK. It's strange that you received the reader with no pre-installed books and apps. Where are you located - US/Canada or EU?

Now, try re-formatting your internal memory. Steps:
- connect the device to the power source;
- turn it off;
- press the "Trash Bin" button on the left (it is the lowest form the left side) and hold it pressed;
- press the "Power" button and release it, as if you were turning the reader on
- keep holding the "trash bin" button pressed until you see the words "... flash-memory is being reformatted, please wait about 10 minutes.."
- now you can release that button and wait for about 10 minutes.

Of course, all your books have to be backed-up before you do this procedure.
