You're probably better off putting the PDF into your free dropbox account and using Safari to view it. Granted you have to be connected to the Internet to do that.

Some people have recommended buy the GoodReader iPad app for $.99 (I just checked the price)... it lets you d/l PDFs to your iPad member and is a viewing program.
