Thanks, PodPeople. I am still processing ...

JBL is on sale from Newegg Canada today at CDN$139 ... vs. Aluratek at $169 and a Sony 300 series unit at $199.

As noted, I have a Kindle 2 and love it; but want access to non-mobi content while still maintaining access to non-DRM mobi content. If I buy a DRM Kindle book, I'm ok leaving it on the Kindle; but I want access to most of my library, most of the time, on any device I select.

Aluratek gets me part way there ... but there is no native dictionary. I think I am going to put this in as table stakes. Text-to-speech is really nice ... but still optional nice to have. But the non-lite JBL has a dictionary for CDN$179.

As much as I like wifi and 3G access ... I can live with USB transfer, esp. as a secondary device.

Let me just say: the ultimate price tag is less important. I am looking for a 6" unit with a dictionary and both Overdrive support and non-drm pdf, non-drm mobi in a single unit. AA batteries is almost an automatic disqualification.

With one of these units, will I have opened up to me the Sony e-reader store, Fictionwise, without losing non-drm mobi and library Overdrive? I can compromise: 5" might be okay. But font display flexibility is important (for example: Astak in the online ads I can see has pretty clunky text) -- I'll be reading, after all.
