I've been doing programming and writing for way too long. I had one novel published in the '90s and built one of the first author sites on the web to promote it back in '94. At the time, I was convinced that the ebook was right around the corner, set to make paper and ink obsolete and free the written word from its linear straight-jacket (I couldn't pick stocks or horses either). Well, it looks to me like the ebook is finally maturing. I've converted my books to kindle and some of my books to ePub, and I've also done a few for other authors, and now I'm trying to figure out how an author, or any other creative type for that matter, is supposed to put whiskey on the table in this brave new DRM-free world.
