I don't think so. It's not outside the realm of possibility, but I've never heard anyone in our family make that claim. The big claim to fame on the Sharpe side is to Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy. I'm not fully persuaded of that, but there are some Davis family members in the family tree.

Sharpe was spelled Sharp originally, and I only have to go back four generations to find folks who used that spelling all their lives. There are conflicting stories about how it came to have an "e" at the end. My favorite is that one of the women who married into our branch of the family added the "e" because she felt "Sharp" wasn't classy enough.
