If all you want to read is books then a 6" reader is probably good enough. If you have to read large screen docs such as textbooks or tech reports, or for other random uses like me with manga, then the larger the screen the better.

At first I tried a 6" reader (a Sony PRS 505) cause I didn't want to spend the extra money and I liked the added portability. When I tried reading manga on it the screen was sharp enough that I could still read it even though it was so small, but the tiny words were straining my eyes. I ended up returning it, ordered the DX, and it is great for manga reading.
