And now that you've said it twice, I think I follow you. The obfuscated link may involve some other processing, click tracking or whatever that slows down the retrieval so you go straight to the origlink, if it exists.

Again, that makes sense (now). I wasn't aware that guid might not contain valid links, but if I've looked at it for a specific recipe/ feed and know it does, I can use it.
