So today I got 2 census forms from the Commerce Dept. marked in HUGE letters: YOUR RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY LAW, and with a sheet inside imploring me to file my results online. The instruction booklet estimated the time needed to complete these things as 2-17 hours, depending on where you've stored your records for 2009. So I fill them out in pencil and go to the website - where I'm told:

So the government is closed today and will re-open on April Fools Day - go figure!
