Kindle keeps the last 7 issues of a periodical in the Periodicals:Back Issues folder, which can be found most easily in the Subscriptions subset. As new periodicals come in, the oldest one is deleted.

When reading a periodical you wish to keep, press Menu, then Keep This Issue. This option is only available for periodicals with Sections, like newspapers and magazines. For some reason, it's not available for blogs.
