What a splendid book. I really enjoyed it. It is just a little slow to start with, as it has a prolog, and then two scenes in the first chapter that aren't really needed, except as background for later parts of the book. If you find it hard to get into the book, try starting with the paragraph beginning "On the day the world ended Mau was on his way home" in the middle of the first chapter, which is the start of the 'main' narrative.

Highly recommended.
