The new unit is certainly much better than the old. But there is still a perceptible difference in the area that I shaded vs. the area that I did not shade when I tested in bright Minnesota Spring sunlight. I'm going to call Tech Support tomorrow and see how they want to handle things. The old unit did not fade as badly as it did in Phoenix on a recent trip. So I'm very concerned that the new unit will fade unacceptably in MN *Summer* sunshine, or next time I vacation in more equatorial climes. Not as bad as the old one, true, but the old one was pretty much unreadable in Phoenix.
This is one of those "principle" situations, I guess. If they'd come right out and said the thing needed to be shaded during page turns, fine. But one of the big ballyhooed marketing hooks is "readable in direct sunlight".
