I was about 2/3 thru the book, so I had accessed it a number of times before this happened. I didn't remove the card between when I read it and the time when it was corrupted - only about an hour had passed. I didn't put it on standby or close the book, I just put the reader down with the page I was on open and let it go on standby by itself.
I didn't think it modified book files, I was thinking along the lines of when it saves the page number you are on. If that info is stored physically directly before the book file, it could be possible that when that info is updated that it could go outside its address space and overwrite the book file header.
