I encountered an Indian woman who was adamant that there was no such thing as a good Indian restaurant, and the the only way you got proper Indian food was to be invited to dinner in the home of an Indian family.

I live about a block above one of the "Little Indias" in my city. It's wall to wall Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi places, several of which are good indeed to my Western palette.

And if I get a craving for fresh nan bread and beef curry at 2am, I know a couple of places that are open till 4am where the Indian cab drivers working night shift go for dinner.
