At that point I am requesting a comic having a width of "w=900.0" without knowing for certain if it exists. It may be a fundamental error in recipe design - it may simply hang for certain comics when asking for a non-existent width. I didn't test all comics/all sizes.

If it fails for certain strips only, you can try changing the width for those strips. You are free to make multiple recipes that differ in the strips being pulled (with a different size for them.). The adjustable width feature worked on all strips I tested, but perhaps not on others.
