This thread did go a-wandering!

I feel like I've read a lot of books that are marketed towards women without even thinking about it. Most of a genre of fantasy I like (I label it "cozy fiction") has a lot of romance in it, but I just consider it a bonus or a win-win along with the fantasy/action plot. Patricia McKillip in particular makes just my brand of damsel-in-distress book. I feel like those sorts of books are more like guilty pleasures.

I also tend to find the exciting romantic bits in even the greatest of classic literature completely drool-worthy. War and Peace is chock-full of, it surprisingly, and most of what I remember from the plot are the "twitterpaited" bits! And oh man, don't get me started on Jane Eyre and that hunk of all hunks Mr. Rochester!

There were some great suggestions here! I had a friend in college who wrote exclusively in the romance/erotica genre, but was VERY secretive about it. It makes me want to pick up a Harlequin novel and have a stab at some romance lit!
