I think the best way to back up your Cailbre library might be the
Save to Disk feature.

As stated I have used the Save to Disk feature to back up my library then deleted everything and restored the saved files using the
Add books from directories, including sub-directories (one book per directory ...) drop down option.

Starson17 was polite enough to point out the above as a warning. Make sure those options are checked prior to saving.
