It doesn't take much water to 'kill' a paper cookbook either. I guess it depends on your work routines in the kitchen. Personally I always keep a high degree of order in the kitchen while I'm cooking so I wouldn't worry too much. With a reader device you at least don't have problems with keeping the book open.

I haven't narrowed my requirement down further than that yet, but what about the rest of you? Is there a reader out there that falls into your "must-have" category, despite already having one (or more) reader(s) already?

I just bought the one on my 'must-have' list - a PocketBook 360. This is the 7th e-ink device I own, and as I have found out, if I own two devices that can do approximately the same thing, one of them ends up not being used so I've sold the 'old' devices off.
Apart from gadget-lust, a reason for buying the PB 360 was that I wanted an e-reader that can handle DRM'd ePUB (the publisher and libraries here are finally catching up with reg. ebooks), but it didn't make much sense to buy a 6'' device that can do roughly the same as my Kindle, so it made more sense to try a 5'' device instead and the PB seemed like good value for money - and I must say it is.
