You have ADE installed and the Sony Reader Library? They both have the exact same log in and password? (They also have to have the computer and Reader authorized to them.)
You said the Reader Library doesn't open now. Have you checked the DEP?
This post has some nice directions on how to turn it off for the XP and let the Library open.
