Sweet! ---Hmm, in the UK that might better be translated as "Brilliant!"

I wouldn't worry about the carbon footprint of charging the bike. Even supposing your local electric company is using (ugh) coal, the difference in weight between you + bike vs you+car guarantees you're using less fossil fuels than you would with even the most fuel efficient car.

Plus the light exercise of pedaling the bike with the power assist is all to the good--you may have started out hoplessly unfit but you will probably find that changing.

I find biking--at least the swooping-down-the-hill-with-the-wind-in-my-face parts--a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy your new bike as much as I have enjoyed mine.
