Plus, if you use the search function and bookmarks for research then the speed of the the page turns is less important. I have a couple of technical books on the Kindle and I search for information instead of flipping through the book. It's equivalent to using an index in a print book.

The Kindle does lack search for PDFs and annotation is primitive. If you are really interested in an electronic reader for research then there are better devices.
