I'm sure you're right - we seem to expend so much energy in deciding what we should buy that by the time we get it we are so emotionally invested in it that we are ready to kill should anyone even suggest that some other reader might be better than ours. I've only had an ereader for about a month and I really like it - but I'm sure I would have liked another one equally well if, when it came to the point of making a decision, I had chosen differently. So long as you don't buy a piece of cr*p - and it's pretty obvious what they are and they don't seem to be on your list - then best thing to do is just go for it.
