Well it was a battle, but the guilt won. I don't think I have ever voted with less enthousiasm, except during the municipal election where there was only one candidate left, our neo-stalinist then-mayor. Only time I ever gave a blank vote too.

heh.

i know what you mean...

Really, can you do that? Turn them in two years late I mean I still have that part to do, and the declaration for social security and pensions and I'm not sure what else, and then I'll have to do my personal tax return... oh, and I almost forgot the VAT

i am sure that if you *ask* the maison des artistes, they will tell you that no, you *cant'* turn them in two years late.

in practice, what happens is that you pay the forfaitary charges every trimester during the time they haven't recieved your dossier(s) (and the notice for payment says REMINDER : PLEASE TURN IN YOUR 2007 TAX FORMS !!!! for two years), and then if you owe more than that when you *do* turn them in you pay the difference (i'm going to have to write that check soon but i don't think it should be a very huge difference. i hope.). bear in mind, i *did* turn in my regular tax forms on time ! it's only the mda dossier i didn't manage to do (it's a pain in the arse though, and i actually *did* try to turn it in once before but it was incomplete due to some conflicting information i got from them the previous year. and then i turned my foot and couldn't walk for a while. so as far as i'm concerned it's not really my fault.

).
the problem with the mda forms is there is no official deadline printed on them, so i can't use my usual system that works so well for the tax forms (

), which is to wait until the last weekend before the deadline and do them in a mad rush because i know i can't put it off any longer. you would think that the mda people would understand that artistic types are notoriously unreliable and bad at admin stuff and give us a deadline so we're forced to take care of the paperwork, but apparently no. luckily, i am not subject to TVA, or i would probably be in jail for not doing the forms by now (will they arrest you for that ?).
i don't even want to know what you mean when you start talking about "personal" tax return, i already have a hard enough time with my 2 forms plus the mda dossier... good luck ! (you should look into the AE status, which i just registered for : apparently, you can register at the tax site and they will set up an automatic withdrawal for X% of your revenus every trimester, so you don't even have to worry about the taxes / charges at all ! just declare online every three months how much you earned, and that's it. no extra forms either. my kind of status.)
