LRF is not nearly as good as ePub. LRF uses simulated italics, simulated bold, and if you want to embed your own font, you are well and truly screwed as the book reading then becomes a chore. ePub can embed fonts quite nicely without a slowdown. Thus you are able to get nice italics and bold or whatever else you want.
