Generally speaking, of course, battery drain isn't linear. Most types of batteries have a fairly steep falloff near the end, correct? I know my daughter's insulin pump needs to know the type of battery we are using in it so it can accurately display the battery meter as the voltage drops off since the curve is apparently very different from one battery to the next.
