Lots of folks on this board bought original Sony Readers from the U.S. knowing full well that they were unsupported and without warranty for the countries they lived in; it's what people have to do sometimes if they want something. I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone else, but I would hazard a guess that like me, the folks pre-ordering iPad have looked at the published specs and find them adequate for their envisaged use. Unlike me though, they can per-order, so it's another big fat <shrug> from me

Exactly! I bought my first Cybook sight unseen (for iPad money, as I said in another thread) and as far as I know there still isn't any way of getting your hands on one in a shop or store; you only have to look back a few years to see that this was the only way of buying an e-ink device - and still is, in many cases.
