I dropped my Sony 505 -- no breakage (other than a minor dent in the aluminum edge -- but it wouldn't come back on. I was sure it was a gonner, but I plugged it in and charged it thoroughly and it recovered.

I've charging it now via the wall socket. I'm afraid to plug it into my USB port for fear something in it may have shorted out, and I don't want to take a chance on damaging my PC. Burning the house down, on the other hand, isn't that big a deal.
