several books on authoriing I have read specifically state that to ignore Star Trek for science. I watch Discovery science channel. Much of the 'science' on star trek isn't science.

I noticed the time it takes for the same starship on that show to get from one star system to another, same route, takes different amounts of time. They use the travel time as a plot device.

There are much better places to get correct science for stories.
