Having taken Warfarin for a couple of years (thank God that’s over), I’m no stranger to blood draws. But I needed to have my hemoglobin checked the other week, and they assigned me a tech who was obviously in training.
I have very prominent veins, and blood draws are usually quite painless for me; but this one HURT! And she missed the vein! She panicked, and called a more qualified tech in to assist. This one pulled the needle out half way, re-oriented it towards the vein and stuck it back in. Wallah! The blood flowed and quickly filled the vial. I’m amazed that I didn’t get a huge hematoma from it.
