I'll tell you how that happened.
My wife has an iPod and I help her rip CDs for it all the time. I don't do much other than get it from her CD to her iTunes. I just don't like iTunes at all. The user interface leaves a bit to be desired compared to the Zune software I've been using for years. It seems slow and clunky by comparison. I do, however, love the hardware and OS on her iPod. I also was recently contracted to design a medical application for diabetes patients on the iPhone and iPod Touch. During that time I didn't really mess with iTunes and just the SDK and the Touch I was using as a staging device.
iTunes would definately not stop me from getting an iPad. The size/form factor is really my only concern. I already have a couple nice netbooks for sofa surfing and want something more portable/small for travel and reading/listening to music. I might change my mind though. I'm something of a collector of these devices. My wife hates it.
