urg. i had to have blood drawn today. i HATE having blood drawn, particularly when i have to go in the morning with nothing in my stomach, since i am hypoglycemic and tend to faint if i don't eat soon enough. i hate it to the point that i put it off until i absolutely have no choice, like today, and by then usually i've got a whole collection of old prescriptions that i do all at once. today i had 3, one of which was from 2 years ago (i'll ask my doctor to make another one with today's date so i can get reimbursed by the social security ; prescriptions are only valid one year).
among other things, they needed to find out which blood group i belong to. so i'm sitting in the chair, staring at the ceiling, trying to ignore the girl changing tube after tube after tube, and FINALLY she says "you can relax your fist now" and i think, "thank god ! it's over !"
...until she says "the other technician will be with you right away to take the other sample." what now ???? other sample ???? they're going to stick me AGAIN ????? well guess what. it turns out that to test blood group, they take two different samples by two different perople, and test them with two different serums from two different labs in two different machines by two different technicians (in a box, on a fox...).
okay, yes, i'm glad they're being so cautious to make sure there's no mistake, since it could be serious. but now i've got little cotton ball compresses taped to *both* my arms, and the second technician told me my vein wasn't flowing well (the first one had no trouble, grmblmblm...) and so he kept pressing on it, and now it feels like i have a bruise.
have i mentioned i hate having blood drawn ?
