Tested a comic, which I've generated some time ago for iRex iLiad. The tool I've used was optimising the b/w contrast. Here in some pages the banding becomes pretty obvious. I can imagine, for the "wrong" document this can be pretty annoying.
Is it doing it with the grey bar at the bottom as well? The weird thing I notice is that the more dynamic the content (larger contrast between regions on a page-flip), the less banding I see. Areas of solid color that tend to stay that way between pages band more.

The ironic thing is that the banding doesn't seem to be as big a deal on my own comics.
