Just my guess: I don't see, how this application would harm battery life.
It's WiFi or 3G, that's causing the battery drain.
So, indirectly, this can harm your battery life. When you frequently use it to surf the B&N webstore on nook, purchase lots of books and download them, this significantly will drain your battery.
But not because of that VPN client, but because of accessing WiFi or 3G.
I haven't got this tool, yet. But I've been surfing the store yesterday via 3G while on the train for about 1 hour. It was draining the battery maybe 20%. But how often and for how long will you do it?
More likely probably is, checking the store, searching for your book of choice, buying it and downloading it. And here this tool will be brillant. For the moment you have to mark any title for your wishlist and later on purchase the wishlist on PC. Now you can do it on the train or at the beach. Outside of US.
