This may sound like I'm making excuses for Ben, but maybe the little fellow already had something wrong with him, for him to come down to the ground in the pouring rain.
Before I buried the bird, I examined him, and he had no visible injuries - not a scratch.
Ben has had hold of one of my own birds before, Cory... Cory is a Short billed Corella or Bare eyed Cockatoo.. Ben had a doggy friend here and somehow Cory got out, and they both went for her... When I finally got the dogs out, Cory was soaking wet, her heart beating a million miles per hour, and I thought she was going to die...
She didn't, and as with the Lorikeet, she had no mark on her...
Here's a picture of Cory and my other bird Shrek... Shrek is a Quaker, and he takes no shit from anyone, so if he perceives I'm in danger he'll fly over and bite me hard, so I get the message: Get Away!
