well, what would you expect from Apple?
If you do not want to part with your phone while it is being "repaired" (AEHHHHHM!!!) the Apple will provide a "Loaner" for you. For another 30 bucks, that is ...

LOTS of early buyers sre angry, because Apple revealed details about the battery very late - after they purchased the phone.

When you have a question the very first palce to look for an answer is Wikipedia.

A quote from Wikipedia, from the Iphone article:

"The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights, a consumer advocate group, has sent a complaint to Apple and AT&T over the fee that consumers have to pay to get the battery replaced. In addition, the scheme and pricing was not made known to buyers until after the product was launched."
