Yeah, I don't pay for any on the go internet either as I'm at a computer at home or in the office all the time anyway.
So I'd be 100% fine with just having wifi on whatever tablet I get. I wouldn't carry it arround everywhere anyway, and would just take it places where I knew I'd have WiFi--tons of places around the city, hotels when traveling (stay where it's free for personal travel, work will pay for internet if its not free for business travel). etc.
As for mark up, yeah e-ink readers like the iRex, Que etc. are just too slow. Not just with the mark up, but the slow page turns are unbearable when needing to flip through a PDF to find a table etc. when referring to articles while writing a paper, class lecture etc. So I definitely want an LCD or other screen tech on any tablet I buy for the near instant refresh rate.
