Hello from Germany and big thank you!
Hello all!
I came across this place when I was looking for free e-books. My first contact with ebooks was when I started to read for LibriVox.org, a place where volunteers make free audio books from public domain texts. Soon I got hooked and wanted to have an ebook reader. This was 2 years ago when e-book readers where still very expensive. Then the first netbooks came up and after watching this for some time I bought one and it became my favourite toy.
Thanks to LibriVox I've mutated into an audio book junky and since I discovered text-to-speech, e-books have a fantastic new dimension for me. (I'm aware that many book lovers don't like audio books so much and run away in horror from the idea of computer generated audio books.)
I'm always on the lookout for new free e-books and I'm so happy that I found this place. Thank you all so much for all the work you put into making all those wonderful e-books.
I still would like to have an e-book reader one day (one that can do text-to-speech) and I'm sure this place will be a great help to choose the right one.
BTW: I read/listen to Die Ahnung by Friedrich Gerstaecker at the moment.
