The rising cost of health care is a major concern and after the health care bill gets written, debated, lost, filed, rewritten, shredded, taped back together, voted up, then voted down, and back up again for the hell of it these sort of medical expenses should go down. Or at least be covered by most major medical insurance plans.
On the other hand I see that he is British, you would have to make sure that this Dr is part of the network that your health care plan includes. You also mention that this is the latest of an ongoing problem, you'll need a special exclusion for a pre-existing condition as well.
