And it's finally over. A very uneven book. Some parts I read with interest, some made me regret I even started it. The central concept was so clever and ambitious, it was a pity the author couldn't pull it off. I think such a book needed some decades more of experience, it was too ambitious for a relatively new author. Oh well.

I'm now re-re-reading some Jim Thompson.
