Greetings from BC, Canada
I've had eBooks (not many lol) in my collection for a while but have yet to actually buy an eBook reader. What got me into eBooks was finding a series that was out of print that I had always wanted to read the second and third books of. I had the first book -- The Reluctant Swordsman -- in my physical collection for a long time, and when I discovered the trilogy was available in digital format (and DRM free!) I jumped right in.
My reading selection is nearly exclusively fantasy. Authors such as Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, R. A. Salvatore, Raymond E. Feist, Terry Goodkind... well, and so forth lol.
I'm also a would-be writer. I've finished a second draft of one novel (which is still far from submittable, but I'm starting to actually think one day might be if I can polish it up more), and I'm working on the first draft of a second. Both of these novels originated from participation in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month, a challenge to anyone willing to write a 50k word or greater novel in the month of November).
Outside of all that I'm a hockey nut, and entering UBC's faculty of arts this September with a plan to major in Modern Languages (German, Japanese, and whatever French I can pick up without having French 11 on my transcript). My 'safe' plan is to get a secondary school teaching certificate after that... but given the capital and opportunity I'd love to get into translating foreign fantasy novels (If I could pull that off self-employed between writing my own stories it would be awesome!), or maybe even comics or manga.
Greetings!
