Well good luck finding any books "I WANT" in a regular books store. Even amazon most of the time does not have them except used. They just don't make much "hard sci fi" any more.

That does not bother me (buying used) its lawful its moral.

Point is IF YOU LAWFULLY POSSESS the book in a LAWFUL FORMAT there is no "moral" issues with downloading the exact same thing in another format.

it would be perfectly legal for you to sit at your computer with that purchased (new or used) book and TYPE OUT the book and put it on your reader.

So I have no moral issue with downloading the book.

There is not ONE SINGLE THING iffy about this Pilotbob and your deceptive to use such words that way. Unless of course you think buying used books is iffy and potentially immoral?

what I won't do i pay $10 or $15 for a book ie the SAME price as the print book KNOWING the author gets not a PENNY more than he would from the PRINT version. IE the publisher gets all that massive increase in profit.

and on top of that such books are STRIPPING me of my property rights via DRM.

I am sorry I care more about "my" PPR than I do about the book seller or even the authors profits.

Please note 99% of the time this is NOT an author issue. in fact 99.99999% of the time it has NOTHING to do with the authors. They would gladly release it DRM FREE.

its the publishers IE the middle men. the sooner we can rid ourselves of the middle men in IPR issues the sooner we can have SANE IPR laws.

alas I was not around 15 20 40 years ago to "buy" the books I tend to like in "print" format. So used is the only way I can go most of the time.

I am too impatient to "wait" for used so if something new comes out I go out immediately and buy it. alas that happens rarely. I stalk the book store isles quite a lot and there is hardly anything "new" worth reading.

in the last few years a few good things came out. The Flint series was great. The Triangle series was great.

but I eat up a regular novel in 2 days tops 3 or 4 if I am really busy. many times if I get one in the morning by 3 or 4 am the next morning I am done.

so its to the used bins to find stuff I have not read yet. :-)
