With a screen roughly the same size as the text area of a paperback book, my PRS-505 is the perfect size for reading text books (which I mean books consisting mostly of text with an occasional image). It's large enough to provide me with a sufficient amount of text on each screen, and small enough so that I can easily carry it around in one hand.
The one type of book it doesn't handle as well are graphic novels and manga. Although the entire reader is rough the same size as the standard manga book, the screen is too small and the screen resolution isn't high enough for comfortable reading for these types of books. Plus, while color isn't an issue with most manga (which are usually originally in black and white with an occasional color page), it is an issue with most U.S. trade paperbacks (which are often collections of previously released monthly comics).
I'm satisfied with my current reader and don't see myself upgrading for a while. When it comes time to upgrade my reader, I will look for one with a minimum screen size of 6.75 inches x 10.25 inches (168mm x 258mm), the size of a standard U. S. comic book with a high-resolution color screen. Not only would that be suitable for graphic novels and manga, it would also be suitable for books of all types while still being small enough to easily carry around.
